The All Might Just Be Getting Rich at Your Expense

The All Might Just Be Getting Rich at Your Expense

I just found a few more…

“Six Figures in 67 Days!”
“Six Figure Boot Camp in 60 Days”
“It Never Feels Like Work!”

As far as I can tell, they’re all copying each most are un-certified experts in teaching you how to get rich with your personal training business.  And if you catch me on a Saturday night, I’ll tell you I think they are all full of it.

Why?

Because you’re not getting the whole story and I think it’s a disservice to the fitness industry as a whole.  There is currently one program I recommend and that is NPE.  And even then, I suggest one very important ingredient to your success – YOU!  That’s right, YOU have what it takes to be successful.  Just because most of your expertise is in the craft and not the marketing of the craft, doesn’t mean that you can’t effectively run your business.  It does meant that you probably need some help with the business stuff.   It’s true, your business, sales, and marketing education is absolutely essential to your success.  And like I mentioned, NPE helped me a great deal in this area, and in addition to that, I’ve probably read literally hundreds of books on the subject.

Why Do I think That Some May be Getting Rich at Your Expense?

First, that’s a somewhat drastic and attention grabbing headline designed to keep you reading – Lesson #1.  You’re going no where without good attention grabbing headlines and then copy in your direct marketing pieces that back it up and keep people interested and burning to buy your stuff.

Second, the two most popular blog posts over the last month on FitnessProBlogger were:

Are you Getting Tired of All The Hype

and

“The Secrets to Running a Successful Fitness Business”

The first important point is that I know these stats about my blog site.  I’m tracking it, testing, and watching closely to try and find out what all of you are interested in knowing about, so that I can provide more of it.  My interest in NOT enough.  That’s what that survey I ran was all about.

That interest also tells me that many of you are suspicious of the big headlines that promise so much in so little time.  And that at the same time, you’re still interested in what
it takes to making that kind of magic happen.  Because I know that if you’re running a fitness business, you’re just like me, always looking for new and more effective ways to bring in new business.  And when someone puts into a headline, “Six Figures in 67 Days” you’re likely to take notice.  And you should, and then your next step should be to proceed with caution.

I probably don’t need to explain to you that when you hear someone say you can make “6 Figures in 67 days” they are not telling you the full story.  I will touch
on that briefly here…

To make “Six Figures” (an expression I loath because it’s so self-limiting anyway), you have to earn enough money to clear your expenses, your taxes, your time,
and everything else you are putting in to grow your business, your career and your clientele.

So, explaining to me the ‘secrets’ of how to fill my schedule with enough clients to generate this kind of income is only the first step.  Because, YES, clients
at $75 per session will put you on pace to make $105,300 for the year, but you have to sustain this pace ALL YEAR, NEVER take a vacation, avoid paying your taxes,
and NEVER spend any money on the marketing and/or the products that are promising the mis-leading results.  Still, there is probably some good information in there and for the price it’s being sold for might be worth your money anyway.  But now you’re being smarter in your pursuit of success.  You are now using these products and services for what they are – TOOLS, NOT MAGIC BULLETS.  Because there is no such thing as a magic bullet.

Yes, this is kind of a rant, and if I hadn’t sat on it until after my massage, it would have been even more edgy than it is now.  And of course, there is much more discourse necessary on the subject that I don’t have time for right now.   I’m in a hurry and have to head out the door.  There are about 6 things I need to take care of this evening and none of them will bring in any revenue directly, all of them will cost me money, and ALL of them are necessary to earn far more than six figures per year in the long run.

In the short run, you should know that I’m currently seeing a net profit of about 2K per month.  That’s in addition to my salary.  And let me tell you, I’m working hard for it right now.

I’m willing to share this with you because once again, I’m committed to keeping my own hype to a minimum.  We all need to stay a little more grounded.  Including me.

Running your own small business isn’t easy, but it’s more than worth it.  And at the same time, I’m more than willing to share the experience and expertise I’ve collected over the last 5 years.   To date, I’ve been doing most of it through this blog and the emails I send to you.

Starting November 4th, I’m teaching the first of many teleseminars on the subject; and some time next week will open my new membership site.  This new site will house all of my own personal tools and expertise and all of the products I create along the way, so that you can benefit from my expertise, my experience, my successes and my failures.  Believe me, it will save you time, money, and a lot of the headaches I’ve already suffered for you…

John
